According to the official election results from last week, a write-in candidate won a seat on the West Chester city council. Jim Johnson will serve on the council after receiving one more vote than a registered candidate.

Washington County Auditor Dan Widmer says he was prepared for a tie, and did research on what would need to be done if that was the case. He says the two names would have been put in a container and pulled by a county supervisor at one of their board meetings.

That actually happened in Henry County. At yesterday’s Henry County Board of Supervisors meeting, the Salem mayor race was decided when Dan Patterson’s name was drawn from a hat.
