The Kalona City Council decided to split a piece of commercial property this week. At their meeting, the council unanimously supported a request from a retailer to split a lot in the Harvest Hill Subdivision. The subdivision is on Highway 1, just north of Highway 22. Mayor Ken Herington says documents he signed yesterday finalized the process. A site and building plan will need to be submitted to the city building inspector before the buyer can begin construction.
