A program that started the first of the year is experiencing a good turnout each week.  Pastor Bob Wollenberg from the United Presbyterian Church in Washington says the Saturday Kitchen program was started as a way to offer a meal to anyone in the community who is hungry.

He says eight churches in Washington take turns each week preparing the food.  Since the program started, attendance has grown but is currently leveled off with close to 70 to 90 people that come each week.  Pastor Wollenberg notes they will see where the program is going forward based off the steady attendance.

The idea for this meal was started by the United Presbyterian Church’s Men’s group.  The free meal is served in the United Presbyterian Church at 11:30 every Saturday.
