The Washington City Council voted 5 to 1 in favor of supporting the new auditorium project’s Vision Iowa grant application by pledging $5,000 each year for three years. Jan Gallagher and Bob Youngquist presented the proposed auditorium that would be a community based venue and would seat nearly 700 people. Gallagher explained that there would be a governing body for the facility that is separate from the school district. The motion was made by Fred Stark and seconded by Merle Hagie, last night’s meeting was each man’s final city council meeting as a councilmember.

The committee will revisit the county supervisors Monday in hopes that they will also approve supporting the project in the same fashion.
