The Washington Demon boy’s basketball team opens up play on AM and FM KCII tonight.

The Demons travel to Muscatine for their first away game of the season, and will try to bounce back off Saturday’s 61-57 loss to Pella Christian.

Washington had some solid scoring through the game, outscoring Pella Christian in both the first and third quarters, but couldn’t shutdown their offense as they only played from behind in the first quarter, and outscored the Demons 18-14 in the fourth quarter after being tied after three.

Tonight Washington takes on a very different team in 4A Muscatine. The Muskies are 1-0 after beating Cedar Rapids Prairie.

Demon head coach Bryce Smeins said Saturday night’s game against Pella Christian and this one are a two tough games so close together, but he thinks tonight’s game will be a bit harder on the body and will prepare them for the start of conference later in the week.

“Muscatine is just a physical 4A type team,” Smeins said. “So that will give us some good looks in getting ready for Fairfield in long lanky basketball team with some pretty good guards.”

This game is at Muscatine with tip-off at 7:30, and you can hear it right here on AM and FM KCII and KCIIradio.com under radio plus with pregame at 7 and tip-off at 7:30. The one to count on for today’s local sports coverage is AM and FM KCII and KCIIradio.com.
