A Fairfield man was arrested yesterday in connection to recent car burglaries. At 5:05 a.m. members of the Fairfield Police Department attempted to stop 37-year-old Shawn Howard, who fled on foot. He was captured by authorities. Officers found evidence tying Howard to five recent car burglaries and two residential burglaries. Howard was arrested on an outstanding warrant for domestic abuse – 3rd or subsequent offense and he was charged with on-going criminal conduct, two counts of burglary in the second degree, five counts of burglary in the third degree, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and interference with official acts. The police department is contacting victims of the crimes to identify property. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Van Buren County Reserves and the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office assisted with the case.

Howard faces four felony charges and multiple aggravated misdemeanor charges.
