The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks take on West Branch tonight for their second girl/boy conference double header.

The Mid-Prairie girls are 0-2 on the season, but have played in close games. Their leading scorer is Ali Riggan who is shooting over 30 percent from beyond the three-point line and has 7.5 points per game, while behind her is Taylor Kurtz with seven points per game.

The Golden Hawk team as a whole is shooting 29 percent from the field, but 34.8 percent from three-point range and averaging 42 points per game.

West Branch is averaging 45.3 points per game, and is 2-1 on the season. They are making 38.5 percent of their shots from the field, and a big help to that number is Ashley Finnegan, who is scoring 11.7 points per game and shooting 41.2 percent. Behind her is Allyson Simpson with nine points per game and Maddy Russell with 8.3 points per game.

On the boy’s side of things, they look to bounce back off their loss last week, sitting 0-1 on the season. The Golden Hawks Spencer Shalla is leading the way with 15 points in the first game, followed by Christian Johnson. Mid-Prairie as a team shot 37.2 percent from the floor and scored 52 points in their opener.

West Branch is 0-2 on the season, getting doubled-up on against Monticello, 50-23 in their last game.

Sam McCrory is their leading scoring by a long shot with 8.5 points per game, he is making 63.6 percent of his shots from the floor, but the closes behind him is Mason Hays with just 4.5 points per game.

West Branch is shooting just 28.8 percent from the floor, and have made just two three’s on 27 attempts.
