Three outgoing city officials were applauded for their work with the city at this week’s Washington City Council meeting. Councilmembers Merle Hagie and Fred Stark and City Attorney Craig Arbuckle were awarded plaques by Mayor Sandra Johnson. Arbuckle had been the city’s attorney since 1980. At their final meeting, Stark moved to approve the auditorium’s Vision Iowa grant application and Hagie seconded – the motion passed on a 5 to 1 vote. Stark did not seek reelection and Hagie will be replaced by Kathryn Salazar. Hagie was appointed to the planning and zoning commission for the city.
