The Golden Hawk wrestling team had some good showings at the North Linn tournament, despite the ever looming threat of snow.

Mid-Prairie had one champion in Phirom Peterschmidt at 196 pounds. Phirom’s championship match was in the semifinals against Dan Thoma from Dubuque Senior, and it was a short match as Peterschmidt won by fall in just 30 seconds. He had byes the rest of the way to the championship.

The Golden hawks also had two runner-ups in Duncan McCain at 106 and Blake Murphy at 113. McCain lost in the first round to undefeated Brock Henderson by a 4-1 decision, and then came back and won in the semi’s 3-2 by decision to grab second. Murphy had to wrestle an extra match, losing by a major decision in the first round, Murphy grabbed his own major decision in the semifinal round beating Center Point-Urbana’s Jayson Overby and then beating Marty Steffen of Dubuque Senior by Fall in 1:03.

Other finishers for the Golden Hawks were Josh Murphy in fourth at 113, Visouth Peterschmidt was sixth at 152, Miguel Sanchez was seventh at 160, Cameron Tolander was fourth at 170, Eesaa Baylor was fourth at 182, and Ben Fiordalise was fifth at 220.
