A couple of area 1A boy’s basketball teams are ranked in the latest AP basketball poll.
IMS is the top team ranked at No. 5 in the state with a perfect 5-0 record. IMS has really had no close games this season except for their overtime win over Columbus Junction who pushed them to the limit.
The other team is Keota, who is ranked No. 11. The Eagles are 6-0 on the season and average a 21.5 point differential per game, and have scored a total of 129 more points than their opponents. Keota’s closest game came in the first one of the year against Lynnville-Sully when they won by three.
On the girl’s side in 1A Winfield-Mt. Union is the only ranked team, sneaking into the rankings at No. 11. The Wolves have taken care of business, losing only to the Class 3A team in the conference Mediapolis. The average point difference against opponents is 11.4.
