Hunters interested in participating in Fairfield’s in town deer hunt need to apply soon. 12 applicants will be selected for the two trial deer hunts scheduled for the last weekend of December and the first weekend of January.

According to Fairfield Police Lieutenant Colin Smith, the amount of deer in town has increased over the past few years. He says during the rut, car accidents involving deer becomes a weekly event in Fairfield.

Applications can be picked up at the Jefferson County Law Enforcement Center and need to be turned in by next Monday. For more information call the Fairfield Police Department or listen to today’s In Touch.
