Administrators at WACO School District are analyzing data from this year and last year to see if there are differences in achievement. The district switched to a four day school week this school year, with Fridays set aside for remediation and elective courses. Superintendent Darrel Smith says students receiving an F in the first quarter went from 17% to 6%, and periods missed went from around 3,200 to 1,660. He adds 64% of students made the honor roll in the first quarter, up 14% from last year.
