The Washington School Board decided to give the superintendent the power to grant waivers for school driving permits at last night’s meeting. School Board President Eric Turner says, before action was taken, students that lived within 1 mile away from school were not eligible for a permit allowing them to drive to school. Superintendent Mike Jorgensen can now grant waivers to students, allowing them to receive the permit. Turner says feedback from parents prompted Jorgensen to make the recommendation.
