The first community forum was held last night by the Washington YMCA. At the meeting, Executive Director Becky Harkema introduced the architects with SVPA and representatives from Carl A. Nelson who helped conduct the building assessment. Overall, the architects explained that the original 1924 building and the facilities have limitations with the lack of space and age of the structures. Vitus Bering with SVPA stated that the interior is not ADA compliant and various aspects of the building would need to be brought up to code.

The meeting also provided time for community input regarding facility and program needs. Some people requested green space for fields, a walking track, a regulation sized pool, and the possibility of having two facilities, at least during a transition period.

The next forum will be held March 6th.
