The Demon wrestling team will wrestle the biggest meet of the year tonight.

Washington travels down to Keokuk tonight to face their final conference test in a dual that will determine whether Washington will get their first conference title while under the coaching duties of head coach Brent VanWeelden.

The Demons defeated the preseason favorite Ft. Madison in front of the home crowd earlier in the year, unfortunately this will be in front of an away crowd.

VanWeelden said if his team wrestles like they can and should, then they will be conference champs, but if something doesn’t go right it’s not the end of the season.

“We’re going to push and try and get that conference title, but if something doesn’t go our way or whatever, our ultimate goal is to try and get as many kids to state tournament and get them on the victory stand [as we can],” VanWeelden said. “Obviously we want the conference title, but there is bigger fish to fry than that so to speak, but obviously the kids want that and they’re going to go down there and compete the best that they can, and I know that if we wrestle the way that we can, then I think things should turn out pretty well for us.”

Washington wrestles at Keokuk tonight with the first match at 6:30 P.M.
