The Highland girl’s basketball team took a close loss to Pekin on Saturday 45-43.

The Huskies fell behind early, getting outscored 12-6 in the first quarter before pulling within one after a big second quarter.

In the second half the Huskies faltered again, this time in the third quarter, getting outscored 11-5 and giving Pekin a 32-25 lead going into the fourth. Highland did everything they could in a high scoring four quarter, but in the end could not take the lead, and fell by the final.

Highland head coach Jodi Fink said his team just didn’t have the heart to win the game.

The Huskies were led by Cheyanne Adamson with 20 points, and fall to 5-3 on the season. Highland returns to action tomorrow against Mediapolis.
