The Highland wrestling team was busy this weekend, taking on five teams at the Dave Steinkamp Duals.

Highland went 0-5 at the tournament, but had a couple of notable wrestlers through the day.

In the first dual to Jesup, Highland lost 48-21. Highland forfeited many matches, but got a decision from Casey Castillo at 160, a pin from Drew West at 106, a pin from Bryce West at 113, and a pin from Travis Cole at 138.

In the next dual against Turkey Valley, Highland’s Drew West continued his pin-a-thon with another at 106, while Bryce West also got his second at 120. Next up was East Buchanan, and Highland fell 54-23 in the dual. Travis Cole got a pin at 136, while Drew West picked up pin No. 3 on the day at 113 and Bryce West got a tech. fall at 120.

In dual number four, Highland took loss four, 60-17, but Drew West once again got a pin at 113 and Bryce West stayed undefeated on the day, winning at 120 by a tech. fall. In the final dual of the day, Sumner-Fredericksburg beat Highland 54-23, and Drew West’s pin streak came to an end, but only because he won by a tech. fall at 113. Travis Cole also won by a pin at 138.

Drew West went 5-0 on the day, recording four total pins in five matches wrestled, while Bryce West went 5-0, getting two pins, two tech. falls and a forfeit in his last match of the evening.

Highland wrestles again on Thursday against Columbus and West Burlington.
