A public hearing on the 2014-2015 budget is set for the Kalona City Council’s first meeting in February. According to Mayor Ken Herington not much is changing from this fiscal year to the next. Projected revenue for the coming fiscal year sits at roughly $3 million, while expenditures will be slightly higher at around $3,180,000. And with a modest one cent increase, property will be taxed at approximately $9.62 per $1,000 in assessed value. The public hearing begins at 7pm February 3rd.
