A local electric cooperative is working to reduce their reliance on fossil fuels. By the end of the year, Farmers Electric Cooperative wants  to cut their use of traditional energy sources by 15%. General Manager Warren McKenna says they’ll do that by using solar energy, offering customers conservation incentives, and by upgrading some of their equipment.

Work on the cooperative’s solar farm south of Frytown, expected to be the largest in the state, could begin as early as March.
