The Mid-Prairie wrestling team wrestled four duals this weekend at Center Point-Urbana, and came away with a much needed 2-2 record to get some wins under their belt.

The Golden Hawks got one of their wins over Clayton Rridge 42-20, and received quite a few pins from their team, including: Josh Murphy at 113, Blake Murphy at 126, Visouth Peterscmidt at 145, Miguel Sanchez at 160, Eesaa Baylor at 170 and Phirom Peterscmidt at 182.

In the second dual of the day, Mid-Prairie fell to Oelwein 54-27. The Golden Hawks received pins from Sanchez at 160, Phirom Peterschmidt at 182 and Blake Murphy at 120. Mid-Prairie’s other win came from a decision by Duncan McCain at 106.

Dual three for Mid-Prairie was a 54-30 win over New London. Mid-Prairie had just two actual matches and wins, with Visouth Peterschmidt winning by pin at 145, and Cameron Tolander getting a pin at 170.

Finally, Mid-Prairie lost their final dual of the day to Center Point- Urbana 48-23. The Golden Hawks picked up wins from Josh Murphy at 120 by a major decision, Visouth Peterschmidt won by decision at 145, and Tolander won by decision at 170.

Mid-Prairie head coach Justin Garvey said it was a pretty good meet to help wrap up the regular season, and that it’s time to get his kids healthy and focus on getting through the post-season to state.

“It was kind of a nice way to end our regular season, the guys came out and they performed well, but we’re still trying to get everyone back in our lineup again. We’ve been hit by the flu, so we’ve got guys that aren’t feeling well, and aren’t wrestling up to their potential,” Garvey said. “Maybe we could have picked up one more dual over this weekend, but at this point, we’re starting to focus in on individuals and their abilities, and what they can do to move forward in the post season.”

Mid-Prairie will wrestle again this week on Thursday, when they host Durant and Northeast.
