At 6 a.m. this morning, wind chills in Washington read 22 degrees below zero. A wind chill advisory is in effect until 9am tomorrow for Washington, Keokuk, Louisa, Jefferson and Henry counties. Wind chill readings as low as 30 degrees below zero may occur. These dangerously cold wind chill values may cause frostbite and hypothermia. Frostbite may happen in as few as 30 minutes in these conditions, according to the National Weather Service.
