Winds gusts reached 43 miles per hour yesterday in Washington. Throughout the day, rain, lightning, thunder, wind, hail and snow came through the area. Approximately 1.5 inches of rain fell in Washington and a flood warning was issued today for the English River at Kalona, it is expected to crest at 16.5 feet this morning and fall below flood state later today. Flood stage for the area is 14 feet.

This weekend is forecasted to be breezy and partly cloudy.

A flood warning is in effect today for the Skunk River at Sigourney. Minor flooding is expected, with the river cresting at 16.4 feet this morning and falling below flood stage today. Flood stage for the area is 16 feet and at 16 feet water affects agricultural land, some county roads and farm houses.
