As the Friends of Bunker Mill Bridge group continues to raise money, the restoration will be put on hold for the time being. The group’s secretary, Doris Park, says they’ve spent the $80,000 they got from the county and the $37,000 they raised from 500 different individuals and businesses. They’re also waiting on parts that will be used in the final phase of the restoration.

The group is now working on a Washington County Riverboat grant application, as well as applications for other smaller grants.

The initial estimate of $270,000 for the restoration has changed, as they’ve found the approach to the bridge will need to be replaced, bringing the estimate up to about $300,000.
