A statewide quarantine of ash wood products comes today after the positive identification of another emerald ash borer infestation in the state. The insect has been found in Waterloo, making Black Hawk County the sixth county in Iowa to have a confirmed infestation.  Beginning today, firewood, ash logs, wood chips, and saplings should not be moved out of Iowa into non-quarantined areas of other states.

The beetle was first found in Allamakee County in 2010, and in the second half of 2013, infestations were discovered in Jefferson, Cedar, Union and Des Moines counties.
