The first reading of an amendment that would change the City of Keota’s zoning ordinance was held at this week’s council meeting. The current ordinance classifies all property in the City as restricted residential. That means if a business would like to open up right now they would need to get a variance signed by every property owner within 300 feet.

The amendment would create six different zoning districts; residential, business, general commerce, industrial and ag land.

If the second and third reading takes place at their next meeting, the changes could become effective as early as March 27th.
