The Mid-Prairie wrestling team had one conference champion this weekend, and a runner-up.
Phirom Peterschmidt was the conference champion at 182 pounds, winning by pin in his first two matches, and then by a major decision in the championship, beating Jordan Challis from Tipton 12-2.
The Golden Hawks runner-up was Josh Murphy at 113. Murphy only wrestled two matches, winning by pin in the first one, and losing by a 10-5 decision from Jeremy Sorem from Camanche.
Mid-Prairie had one third place finish from Levi Duwa at 220, winning in his first match, falling in the second match of the day, and then winning his final two to take bronze.
The Golden Hawks also had three fourth place finishers in Duncan McCain at 106, Miguel Sanchez at 160, and Eesaa Baylor at 170. Finishing in fifth for Mid-Prairie was Ben Fiordalise at 285, and Visouth Peterschmidt at 145.
The wrestling team will be back in action on Saturday for the state sectional meet at Albia.
