Lake Darling’s dam will be closed for a second time this morning, nearly 65 years after the park’s namesake, Jay N Ding Darling, helped close it the first time. Members of Friends of Lake Darling, Washington County Soil & Water Conservation District, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, and Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey will be in attendance for the dam setting ceremony at 10am. Following the ceremony, the public is invited to a program at the Brighton Community Center, which will go over the purpose and benefits of the lake’s restoration. It begins at 11, and will be followed by a light luncheon.
