More snow fell last night than all of January. Approximately 6 inches of snow fell in Washington last night, while approximately 5 inches of snow fell in Washington last month. So far this month, 11 inches of snow has fallen. The City of Washington has issued a snow emergency until noon Friday. The city square will be cleaned thoroughly tonight, please park two blocks off of the square.

Also, persons should not park vehicles on any public street, alley or city-owned or leased off-street parking area during a snow emergency proclaimed by the City of Washington unless the snow has been removed or plowed from said street or area and the snow has ceased to fall. During severe winter weather citizens are also urged not to travel unless absolutely necessary.

An additional release will be issued when the snow emergency has been lifted.
