A bond vote will be held April 1st for the Washington School District regarding a new auditorium. Yesterday the school board approved the bond rate at 40 cents per $1,000 over seven years. Superintendent Dr. Mike Jorgensen explains the district’s tax levy is 52 cents lower this year, so even if the bond passes, taxes will still be lower than the current rate.

Also, by having the bond over seven years the district isn’t bound for a long time and there will be savings on interest, which will be approximately 2%. The bond levy is for $1.1 million to help fund the $7 million new auditorium project.
