A Washington County city with a property tax rate on the low end of the spectrum is considering an increase. Riverside City Administrator Rusty Rogerson says their rate is at $5.10 per $1,000 in assessed value, the lowest allowed under state law. That’s also one of the lowest rates in the state, as other similarly sized towns have theirs set anywhere from $8 to $12. It’s been recommended that the council raise the tax to $6.

Increases to the city’s water and sewer rates are also possible. A consulting firm has been hired to analyze those rates, and at a work session Wednesday, they recommended an increase to keep those accounts solvent. The firm will be offer specific recommendations at a meeting set for the 27th
