The Washington Demon girls saw their season ended on Saturday by Grinnell 53-38.

Washington needed to come out fast, but the Tigers caught them on their heels in the first half, and went right past them, while nailing five three’s in the first half. Grinnel jumped out to a 14- 5 lead after one, as Washington only made one shot from the field in the first quarter. In the second quarter, Washington came on a little stronger at the end, but the damage was already done, and Washington trailed 31-12 at half.

The Demons came out of the halftime break, and looked like a different team, using their defense to hold Grinnell to nine points, and score nine of their own. The Demons scored 15 in the fourth quarter to the Tiger’s nine as well, winning the second half, but too far behind because of the first half to win the game.

Washington was led by Dema Giardino with 14 points, while Amber Salow had nine and Grace Redlinger came in with eight.

Washington says goodbye to four seniors, in Dema Giardino, Grace Redlinger, Addie Shive and Stephanie Fishback.

The Demons finish their season at 15-8.
