The Washington School Board will meet in special session next week to consider a bond issuance election for the new auditorium project. The school district will learn next week what its tax rate will be for the next year, so the board decided to have the special meeting regarding a proposed levy increase after having gathered more information. There are three potential options for a levy, 20 cents, 30 cents or 40 cents.

Superintendent Mike Jorgenson stated that the request comes from a group outside the district. The new auditorium committee needed 50 signatures for their petition but submitted more than 300. The special session will be held at 5:45 p.m., February 20 at the central office.

Jorgenson added that if an election is held, then the District 2 seat, which was appointed and is held by Dana McDole, will be on the ballot.
