A local American Legion post is raising funds for a new headquarters. Wellman American Legion Post 427 has been working on this for the past three years, and has purchased an acre of land at 1400 Madison Street.

Vice Commander of the Wellman American Legion Joe Fanatia says they have fundraisers planned and are applying for grants to pay for the $300,000 building.

He explains it will be a single room auditorium with a stage, which will be open to church and school related activities, as well as individuals displaced be natural disasters.
