Deer hunting has begun in southeast Iowa. On Wednesday, the state opened the first part of the archery deer hunting season. That will run until December 5th, then reopen December 22nd. In just over a week, the early muzzleloader season opens. Iowa Department of Natural Resources Conservation Officer Wes Gould says the limited number of deer tags for that popular season sellout quickly. The weeklong season opens Saturday, October 11th. To avoid unnecessary accidents, Gould urges hunters to make sure their deer stands and safety harnesses are in working order.
