Area officials are reminding people to be prepared during this severe weather awareness week. Larry Smith Washington and Keokuk County Emergency Management Coordinator, is advising that people have a kit ready that includes a weather radio, water, food and extra medication in case severe weather hits the area. Kits should also include anything necessary for pets.
In addition he tells people to be ready this spring and summer, and to keep an eye out for signs of bad weather while at outdoor events and be ready to seek shelter. For more information visit BeReady.Iowa.gov.
