The Columbus Junction girls basketball team got two girls on the all-conference list.

Kelsey Pretz received first team honors as a junior. Pretz led the team in scoring with 229 total points, all from the free throw line or inside the three-point arc. She had 48 steals, 15 blocks and 137 total rebounds.

On second team is Martha Anaya, and before the award was given we talked to head coach Kasey Keltner, and he said this about Anaya.

“Martha has been extremely valuable to our program for the last four year, just a really tough kids, very unselfish, just a girl that loves to play basketball and I think that rubbed off on a lot of our other players; didn’t care about individual achievements or anything like that, just a constant good teammate to have, and everyone enjoyed playing with Martha, because they knew that they were going to get a pass, and that she was going to give them an opportunity to score,” Keltner said.

Her unselfish play, and quality skills got her an individual award, with 81 assists, 30 steals, and 156 points on the season. Her 81 assists placed her third in the Southeast Iowa Superconference North Division.

Honorable mentions for the Wildcats are Taylor Hills and Claire Hamilton.

Columbus finished their season at 10-12.
