The Washington Demon boys track team will host their Demon indoor track meet tonight.

This will be the first meet for the Demons and other area teams, as over 30 teams are expected to show up for the meet at the University of Iowa Field House.

Demon head boys track and field coach Steve Roth said this meet is more of a glorified practice for his kids, and a chance to go out, get some competition in, and for some, to run a full race for the first time.

“This type of season you are competing as an individual. It is a little different mindset, it’s you against them, you against the other person, and that is what we need to start doing now to break up the monotony of being in the gym,” Roth said. “Some of the big schools have an indoor facility, and we’ve been in the hallway for the last two and half or three weeks, and we really started agility’s back in January, so a few of them have been going a long time. They’re just ready to get on the track and see where they’re at.”

The meet starts at 5 P.M. tonight with the 60 meter hurdle prelims.
