Donations are being accepted for a Wellman American Legion post headquarters. Similar fundraising projects have been successful in the past, like one in Van Meter, where their American Legion was able to raise 2.2 million dollars for a headquarters. The price tag for the single room building that has been proposed in Wellman is about $300,000. Vice Commander of post 427, Joe Fanatia, says the public can learn more about the American Legion at their open house this Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Washington from 1 to 3pm.
