The amount Kalona will be paying for Washington County Communications Center’s dispatch services will be increasing slightly. The contract is set for approval at tonight’s city council meeting. For the 2014-2015 fiscal year, Kalona will pay around $65,500, up from this year’s $63,450. The County’s communication commission uses a formula to decide how much each town will pay that takes into consideration the number of calls from the year before, population and property valuation. Also up for approval is the $78,000 Washington County Sheriff’s Department contract.
