The Keota girls track and field team is going to look to their few veterans to lead the way.

The Eagles don’t have many girls, but what they do have is quality. Keota brings back Brooke Sieren who was second last year in the 100 meter dash at 14.33, Kelsi Sieren, the returning top hurdler at 17.31, and Madison Sieren who has the top 800 meter time of 2:50.

Keota could also have a solid 4×200, as they had a time of 1:58.65 last year.

Head coach Dan Stout said the team won’t win any meets with their numbers, but they can compete in some events.

“It’s going to be a small group to work with this year, but I like some of the experience that is coming back with some of the events that we can run, and we’ve already talked about that we obviously aren’t going to go win any track meets with only seven girls, but what we are going to look forward to is getting better each and every meet out and just improve times, and see if we can win any individual events, and maybe win some relay events here or there down the line,” Stout said.

Keota’s first meet is April 1st at Belle Plaine.
