The Keota Eagles will play in the state 1A semifinals today, when they take on West Lyon.
The Eagles won over Easton Valley after a controlling fourth quarter, while West Lyon took a high scoring win over the No. 1 seed in the tournament Newell-Fonda.
Keota was led in the game by Kolton Greiner with 21 points, but the key to the game for Keota was the 10 points off the bench, and the ability to take momentum at the buzzer of the first half and the third quarter.
Luke Lyle struggled in the game from outside, but hit key free throws down the stretch to help the Eagles get the win, and led the team with 15 rebounds despite being significantly outsized in the paint.
West Lyon comes in with four players over 11 points per game. Led by Brandon Snyder with 13.7 points per game, and backed up by Cody Bauman with 13.5 points per game, Kacey Myrlie with 12.3 points per game, and Kyle Groeneweg with 11.3 points per game.
All four players had over 11 points in their game against Newell-Fonda, and were led by Groeneweg with 18.
Keota head coach Dan Stout said it is a different team than who they have faced recently, but if his team can do their job, then they should have a pretty good shot a the win.
