Runoff from the past month has filled Lake Darling a third of the way. Southeast Iowa Parks Supervisor Tom Basten says if we see an average amount of runoff this spring the lake could be full by April. As for the park itself, progress is at a stand still until the ground thaws. Once that happens, Basten says contractors can begin their work on the roads, parking lots and fishing trail. He says the campground could be open as early as July, but it all depends on when construction begins.
