Hawkeye Area Community Action Program, or HACAP, is accepting applications for the Low Income Heating Energy Assistance Program until April 15th. RenElla Crawford with HACAP states that they are seeing large utility bills coming in and they are hoping to keep people’s utilities connected. She states that one way people can pay down their bills is by entering into a deferred payment agreement to pay the bill over six or 12 months.

Crawford adds that locally applications for assistance are down, but they anticipate more coming in as people get higher bills and utility disconnects are threatened.
