With the Purple Martin Workshop going on in Kalona today, some may be wondering where you can find one of these birds. According to one of the organizers of today’s event and President of the Songbird Project, Jim Walters, they’ve started colonies throughout Johnson and Washington counties. Locally, there are colonies at the fire stations in Riverside and Hills, another at the Casey’s in Hills, and a few at Pleasantview Home in Kalona.
