The 9th Annual Purple Martin Workshop is being held north of Kalona on Saturday. Jim Walters is President of the Johnson County Songbird Project and one of the organizers of the event. He says they have four speakers lined up, including one of North America’s leading purple martin authorities.

Attendees will learn how to start a purple martin colony, and also how to re-establish and maintain one. Other topics that will be covered include native plants, bluebirds, and Iowa owls.

Registration at the CAM Clothing Center will begin at 8:30am.
