Budget projections for the Washington Community School District were presented by Superintendent Mike Jorgensen at last night’s school board meeting. He explained that the tax rate has dropped 59 cents to $14.05, and should a bond issue pass for a new auditorium on April 1st the rate will still be lower than the current rate. Jorgensen stated the district has not had a levy since 1980, which was the junior high bond issue.

Jorgensen also stated that the school’s enrollment has continued to increase over the past five years, with approximately 68 more students.

A budget hearing will be held next month before the board approves the district’s budget.
