Washington County’s unemployment rate rose nearly 2% from December to January. In December, Washington’s unemployment rate was 3.5% with 400 people unemployed and in January it rose to 5.4% with approximately 700 people unemployed in the county. The state’s unemployment rate also rose, from 4.2% to 4.3%. In addition, all of the surrounding counties’ unemployment rates increased.
