Sewer and water rate increases are anticipated for Columbus Junction residents. The first reading of both ordinance amendments took place at the City Council’s last meeting. The proposed increases would bring the current water rate of $12.75 for the first 2,000 gallons and $3.75 for every additional 1,000 gallons up to $14 and $5 respectively. Sewer rates will go up to $9 for the first 2,000 gallons used, and for the next 48,000 gallons, customers will pay $3.50 per 1,000. The Council will need to hold two more readings before the amendments are finalized.
