Two designs were presented at yesterday’s Washington YMCA community forum. The first design shown was for a $11.6 million remodel and addition at the current site. The remodel would include expanding the YMCA to Washington Street, building a 25-yard four lane pool and full gym.

The second design was for a new facility at the proposed Wellness Park and childcare to remain at the current site. The new facility would include a four lane, 25-yard pool, a family pool with ramp, a full sized gym, an alternate gym, a walking track and community room with kitchen and separate entrance. The design show is estimated to cost $9.6 million. With the second design, Doug Ziegler with Carl A. Nelson explained that there was room to add on the childcare wing and racquetball courts.

The public spoke in favor of raising the fundraising goal in order to have childcare at the new facility and to include a six-lane pool. The board will decide what direction to take on March 17th.
