The impact of rate increases will be seen by Columbus Junction residents on their bill May 1st. Amendments to increase the city’s water and sewer rates had their third reading last week. The adjustment brings the current water rate of $12.75 for the first 2,000 gallons to $14, while bringing the charge for every additional 1,000 gallons up to $5. Sewer rates will go up to $9 for the first 2,000 gallons used, and for the next 48,000 gallons, customers will pay $3.50 per 1,000.
